Is the Old Testament of Non-Effect?

Question: How come the faith follows the law of the Old Testament? A lot of first-day churches feel that when Yahshua came back and died for us, His blood allowed us to be free from the law of the Old Testament.

Answer:  We believe the Savior of the world, Yahshua, brought in a New Covenant Age or the New Testament by the shedding of His blood, death, and resurrection (See Romans 5:8, 9, and 10).  His redemptive work freed all of mankind from the Old Testament laws written on tables of stone which became a curse to man because of our inability to keep them in entirety without sinning.  Yahweh sent His Son Yahshua to bare the sins of the world so that we might be free from sin through our faith in Yahshua.  The law was fulfilled by Yahshua’s death and resurrection.  When we accept Yahshua as our Savior the law comes into our hearts spiritually because He is the fulfillment of the law (see Galatians 3:10 through 29).  The view that the Old Testament was destroyed is not supported by the Holy Scriptures.  We find that Yahshua referred to the Old Testament laws Himself and instructed His disciples to follow these laws.  In the Old Testament, we read in Exodus 23: 14, 15, and 16 that Yahweh commanded Israel to observe the Feasts of Passover (includes Unleavened bread), Pentecost (Harvest), and Tabernacles (Ingathering).

We read in the New Testament that Yahshua continued to follow the Old Testament laws, which were given by Yahweh, to observe these Feasts.  We also read in the New Testament in Matthew 26:18 through 29 that Yahshua and His disciples observed the Feast of Passover and after Yahshua’s death His disciples continued observing this Feast in First Corinthians 11:23 – 34. Further in First Corinthians 16:8 , we read that Yahshua’s disciples were observing the Feast of Pentecost, and in St. John 7:2 Yahshua’s disciples observed the Feast of Tabernacles.  (We find no record, however, in the New Testament of Yahshua observing or instructing His disciples to observe Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.)  Since His (Yahshua's) blood atoned for the sins of mankind (or washed them away),  there is no further need for the shedding of the blood of bulls, goats, and lambs. Yahshua’s blood made void the need for such offerings for the forgiveness of man’s sins (See Hebrews 9); it did not destroy the law of Yahweh in the Old Testament.

Yahshua said in Matthew 5:17, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to establish.”   Yahshua came to earth to reveal to man how to serve Yahweh in spirit and in truth, allowing the Spirit of Yahweh to live in man’s heart by faith.  Yahshua fulfilled the law of the Old Testament, but He did not destroy it.  There is no need for offering the blood of lambs, goats or bulls for man’s sins because Yahshua’s blood has been shed for the sins of mankind forever.  Yahweh and Yahshua are one.  When Yahshua lives in our hearts, the law of Yahweh lives in us because He (Yahshua) has fulfilled the law.  Therefore, if Yahshua lives in us, our desire is to obey Yahweh’s commands, instructions, and laws.  Further, the Old Testament law could not be destroyed because every disciple in the New Testament who had the Spirit of Yahweh living in their hearts overcame the enemy by speaking words from the Old Testament to heal the sick, bring souls to Yahshua, and teach and preach the glad tidings of Yahweh.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to establish.”

Remember: When Yahshua lives in our hearts, the law of Yahweh lives in us because He (Yahshua) has fulfilled the law.  Therefore, if Yahshua lives in us, our desire is to obey Yahweh’s commands, instructions, and laws.

Question: How does Yahweh look at people that follow the first-day? Will all those people go to hell?

Answer: The word of Yahweh in Matthew 7:1 tells us that we as believers should judge not so that we are not judged.  As believers, we are only called to love Yahweh with all of our heart, soul, and body, and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.  We cannot say for certain who will go to hell unless Yahshua tells us personally.  One thing we do know, however, is that people who practice sin and die in sin shall be lost.  As believers we are not called to salvation to judge who will or will not have eternal life, but are called to obey the Word of Yahweh, to live a holy life and encourage others to live holy.  It is our belief that there are many saved people in first-day, seventh-day, and religious organizations or churches that do not call on the Name of Yahweh but have salvation if they have not yet come into the knowledge of the Sacred Name of Yahweh.  Yahweh is merciful because He looks at a person’s heart and knows when that person’s heart is toward Him and the person truly loves Him.  We believe that one day all who truly love the Savior will observe the Sabbath and call on Yahshua by His true Name.

Yahshua is the Light of the World.

Yahshua came to earth to reveal to man how to serve Yahweh in spirit and in truth, allowing the Spirit of Yahweh to live in man’s heart by faith.
