Do you know what foods are clean and unclean according to the Holy Bible?  In His Word, Yahweh addresses this subject and clearly elaborates on the foods we can eat and those we should not eat.  For all foods were created for a specific purpose.  Following is the teaching on Yahweh's Dietary Laws:

1). What are Yahweh’s dietary laws? In Deuteronomy 14 and Leviticus 11, we are commanded to eat only animals, fish, fowls and insects described in the Bible as clean. Those described as unclean are not suitable for human consumption. Yahweh gives us clear guidelines for recognizing clean animals that are acceptable for food (animals that chew the cud and split the hoof), clean fish that are acceptable for food (which have fins and scales) and clean fowls and insects that are acceptable for food (which are described in the Bible). Unclean animals that are not acceptable for food generally fall into two categories: scavengers that clean the earth and water of waste, sewage, decaying flesh that may be diseased and carrion eaters, which devour other animals as a source of food. NOTEAnimals that are created clean and unclean by Yahweh will remain that way forever. Also, we must not eat the blood of animals, because the life is in the blood, (see Lev. 17:10).

2) Did the prophets, holy men and disciples of the Old and New Testaments observe these dietary laws?

Noah made a distinction between clean and unclean animals that were brought on the Ark (Gen. 7: 2-8). Daniel, when in captivity in Babylon, refused to eat unclean foods as seen in Dan. 1:8; and Peter refused to eat unclean foods, because he knew this command was contrary to Yahweh’s law.  Peter later learned the true interpretation of the dream (which referred to his acceptance of common or Gentile people by giving them the message -- see Acts 10).

3). What is the position of modern religious organizations on the subject of eating clean and unclean foods?

Many of the religious organizations in Christianity today take the position that the New Testament has rendered the Old Testament obsolete.  Therefore, they believe Christians can eat anything they desire, if they pray over it.  There also is a belief that Yahshua is only concerned with our spirit. These positions will be examined. Luke 10:8 (“AND WHATSOEVER CITY YE ENTER, AND THEY RECEIVE YOU, EAT SUCH THINGS THAT ARE SET BEFORE YOU”) is used to convince people that the New Testament has done away with the dietary Laws of the Old Testament.  In this verse, Yahshua is instructing His disciples to visit the 10 lost tribes of Israel (see Matt.10:5-6), “These twelve Yahshua sent forth, and commanded them, saying “Go not unto the way of the Gentile, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:  But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel”), who already knew the Dietary Laws of the Old Testament.  Further, Yahshua instructed them to only rest in those houses where Peace (the Holy Spirit) resided.  In Mark 7: 15 and 18, Yahshua said “There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.” In this instance, Yahshua was explaining to the Pharisees (who required all kinds of physical washings) that being physically and materially clean does not lead to sanctification and eternal life without spiritual or heart cleansing. Yahshua was not saying it’s acceptable for the body to be defiled, but that cleansing the body is a subsequent step to our human spirit being sanctified through grace through Yahshua, Romans 12:1 and I Corinthians. 9: 23. These same organizations take the position if you pray over any kind of food it becomes clean.  To support this position they refer to 1 Tim. 4: 4-5, “For every creature of Yahweh is good and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the Word of Yahweh and prayer.”  The important point that should be learned from this verse is sanctified by the word of Yahweh.  We know that all animals that are sanctified (clean) by Yahweh are given in Leviticus.  These scriptures do not tell us to pray over unclean foods and they will become clean; it says these foods are already clean (sanctified) by the Word of Yahweh. Therefore, the purpose for praying over sanctified food is before we eat it is to ensure that if unknown defilement has occurred in preparation or purchase our prayers will result in the Blood of Yahshua sanctifying the food.  If these chapters are red in their entirety for better understanding and ot just a few verses, the true meaning will be revealed.

4). What does the Bible describe as a consequence of disobeying Yahweh’s law?

Should we decide to knowingly disobey the Law of Yahweh, we stand in jeopardy of being out of the will of Yahweh, without His blessings and protection and alternately our souls being lost.  In Lev. 11: 43 and 20:25 and Eph. 5:5, “Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye shall be defiled thereby.  For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of the Messiah and of Yahweh”, it says that no unclean person has a place in the Kingdom of Yahweh.  Also, Isa. 65:3-5 and 66:15-17 give us Yahweh’s pronouncement on those people who break the Law and their reward for disobeying His Law.  In I Thessalonians 5: 22 and 23, it says, (22) “Abstain from all appearances of evil” and (23) “And the very Elohim of peace sanctify you wholly: so that your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Saviour Yahshua the Messiah.”
